“A creative life is an amplified life. It's a bigger life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life”

Hello there, I’m Paula, an abstract artist and graphic designer living in South Florida with a chubby Calico named Mia.

I believe that no matter your age or stage in life, embracing a creative mindset can bring joy, growth, and a deeper connection to those around you. Creativity is transformative—it not only enhances our own lives but ripples outward to inspire others.

After two decades immersed in graphic and digital arts, a family visit reconnected me with my creative roots. I was reminded of the quiet moments spent with my mother, grandmother, and other women, working on hand-crafted projects that built connection and community. It was a powerful awakening, pulling me away from the digital world and back into creating with my hands. While I still love digital projects, from that point on, I found myself unplugging more and diving into the tactile world of art.

My work today feels miles away from the precise portraits I used to create. Now, I let intuition guide me, celebrating texture and the organic flow of ideas. This shift opened up a new curiosity about life—letting go of perfectionism in favor of exploration and play.

Spending time with paper, canvas, pens, and brushes allows my mind to slow down, creating space to process life’s moments and emotions, often without realizing it. Science backs up what I’ve discovered personally: creative play has significant benefits, from reducing stress to improving cognitive function.

I’ve had the joy of sharing my love for hands-on art through local classes for seniors and adults. Watching students experiment—asking "what if?" and pushing their boundaries—has been deeply fulfilling. When they say, “I didn’t know I could do that,” it’s like witnessing a spark. Each project completed is a testament to their growth and curiosity. By choosing creativity, they’re choosing a life rich with possibility over a routine-driven existence.

For me, this journey has been about moving away from digital distractions, but everyone’s path to creativity is unique. Whether through music, photography, cooking, gardening, or any other form of expression, embracing your creative side can open up a world of new experiences. Make it your mission to try something new every day—you never know where it might lead.

Thank you for joining me on this exploration.
